Cornsnakes > Crimson

Pantherophis guttata

Crimson Corn This form is very variable so it is well to choose breeding stock carefully. Our animals came in from the US and are of high quality. This morph is a hypo-melanistic form which has its origins in the Miami phase. These are probably the smallest of the corn Morphs but once mature they can produce a reasonable number of small eggs. The resulting babies are small and require encouragement to feed. If you have a lizard casualty in the freezer then this can be used to scent the first few meals. Once they have over-wintered they feed much like any other corn i.e. well on mice! In the quest to produce interesting colours we have bred our Crimsons to a Pastel Motley to introduce the Motley gene and the resulting off-spring were mated to a Butter Motley which has resulted in some very attractive brightly coloured varieties with (in the Motley form) a bright red background with orange ovals/circles.
